Re: Witness Youth and Education
by Inquisitor inthe wts would prefer to believe they possess a balanced view of education.
"no hard-and-fast rules should be made either for or against extra education" w92 11/1 p.15
it has even acknowledged that college education may be necessary in certain job markets today.

Prove to me the WTS is genuinely concerned about college youths!
They are "genuinely concerned" about college youths if those youths pioneer and can come to bethel and give free labor as doctors, dentists, physical therapists, nurses, lawyers, engineers, etc....
...but keep those college classes a secret...you'll never see a youth on an assembly part expressing how he or she is pioneering and attending college in order to go to Bethel (one of the only ways a single sister can make it to Bethel & I have known sisters who did just that and are at Bethel)...
...the borg unspoken view is that only the "spiritual super-heros" can handle college and spirituality at the same time but that can't be revealed to the "regular" JW youth cuz we all know what would happen then....

Five years ago my husband died after being in hospice care for 6 months. The hospice had a great couseling department with a large library of books on grief and berevement for all age groups, relationships, and types of illness & death. Anyone could check out the books if they wanted to. I found lots of JW literature on the shelves. I remember going through every shelf in search of WT literature and I took every single piece I could find and pitched it. It was very cathartic after the fiasco that occured at my husband's JW funeral (that is another story).
Any time I find JW literature, where ever it may be, I always pitch it.

update on my neutropenia
by buffalosrfree inwent to dr. again, they believe i am either severly malnourished or have cancer.
so there i sit and wanted to laugh because with all the test that they have taken, i am still in the same bag i was several weeks ago.
took more blood for more tests.

B,
There are lots of causes for neutropenia and different degrees of severity. Work with your doctor in finding the cause and in the mean time, contact your doctor immediately if you run any fevers or show signs of having any infection. What kinds of tests have you had and are you going to have a bone marrow biopsy? Hopefully the results of your tests show a cause much less severe than cancer and more easily treatable. Keep us posted.

The Lord's Prayer
Our Flying Spaghetti Monster,
Who art in orbit around Ramen 324,
Hallowed be thy Noodly Appendage.
Thy Pasta al dente, They Sauce be done,
On earth as it is on dishes.
Give us this day our daily meatball,
And forgive us our diets,
As we forgive those who eat fried chicken.
And lead us not into starvation,
But deliver us from tofu.
For thine is the Meatballs,
And the Pasta,
And the Sauce,
Now and forever.RAmen.
From the Book of Pasta: Chapter 23
1) The Flying Spaghetti Monster is my buddy; I shall not starve.
2) He maketh me to lie in green parsley: He leadeth me beside marinara.
3) He filleth my stomach: He leadeth me in the paths of satire for entertainment’s sake.
4) Yea, though I walk through the world of the low-carb craze, I will fear no diet: for thou art with me; thy noodly appendage it comforts me.
5) Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of Parmesan: thou annointest my salad with oil; my beer foameth over.
6) Surely meatballs and garlic will follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of good food forever; RAmen. -

I gave the PO a letter tonight
by fullofdoubtnow intonight was the school/service meeting at the kh, and myself and dedpoet drove there at the end of the meeting to see the po.
we didn't go in the hall, we just waited outside the gates for the po to come out, then i handed him my letter, saying it was to get things over with and save the necessity of a jc.
he didn't ask what it was, i think he knew, especially when he saw dp give me the thumbs up sign, but asked me to reconsider, but i said my mind is made up, i am leaving, and i want it out in the open as soon as possible.

Greetings from Post-Wilma Survivor in Florida
by Nellie inhey all - glad to be back .
in case you've been wondering (and since i haven't been on - no power obviously), the damage down here in fort lauderdale is quite extensive.
i've been hearing from others that the media has been downplaying the severity of the the hit - but for those of us going through it, it was quite impressive.

Nelllie,
I am just a bit north of you (maybe 5 miles) and this storm was awful. Still trying to get gas. Was up at 5:30 this morning and the lines were 50 cars long at 5 gas stations. Finally got power back yesterday. Had flooding in the back of the house. Ruined the wood floors. About 50 barrel roof tiles gone. Trees are trashed. But, when I go to the Palm Beach Post and Sun Sentinal sites online, I see the pictures of the damage and am reminded of how fortunate I am.
Happy Halloween

Does anyone know of a good church I could go to?
by Andrea Wideman inafter being a catholic and a jw i am really gun shy about organized religions.
i identify myself simply as a christian.
i am looking for a church to go to for fellowship.

When I left the organization, I decided to just visit different churches each week. I found out the service hours and showed up. No one tried to force me to join anything. It was a learning experience for me.......to see how different churches conducted their services. In each place I found things I liked and things I didn't like. I considered myself a Christian and wanted a church home. I ended up being "saved" and baptized at one church that I started attending regulary twice a week and once a week for bible study in the homes of members. It was a very large congregation (hundreds) and was mildly Pentacostal in nature. One time they had a special weekend with a visiting healer and the place was packed. The healings were pretty phoney and those who were really sick didn't get well. I quit going there.
Then I found a small non-denominational church that I liked a lot. The pastor's parents were JW's ironically. I started attending their weekly new believer classes and was involved with the women's and single's ministries. (OMG how funny...right now the phone is ringing and it is JW's on the caller ID, must be doing telephone territory!!!!!) The people were great and very caring.
Anyway, after a while I realized that it was kind of the same thing with a different name. Just like the JW's believed you had to be a part of the organization, the churches taught you had to accept Jesus as your savior and be saved. I wondered about all of the other people on the planet who weren't Christian. And then I got to sersiously thinking about the whole salvation teaching and I realized how crazy it was. Supposedly I am a sinner by inheritance and I have no control over that. If I want eternal life in a place other than hell, I must become a Christian and get saved. It's not my fault Adama & Eve screwed up but I pay the price and if I don't get saved I am damned???? Kind of like a parent having a child, raising them to be an independent adult and then saying you have to do this or that my way, and if you don't, I am going to punish you (or kill you). And what kind of a crazy idea is it that Jesus dying would wipe away sin to begin with and only ultimately for those accepting him and getting saved? After those (and may other) realizations hit me, I quit attending and embraced a higher level of spirituality not based on fear or organized religion....and not necessarily dependent on an individual called "God". The part I miss most about attending church is the great praise and worship services, so opposite from the JW boring 3 minute singing to taped piano. Those churches can really rock!
That is just my experience. Each person will have his or her own. You will have yours and it will most likely be a process, not a one time event.
Wishing you the best in your journey.
